ব্যাকরণে বাক্য সম্পর্কে জানা অধিক গুরুত্বপূর্ণ । বাক্য সম্পর্কে জানতে হলে বাক্যের বিভিন্ন অংশ সম্পর্কে আমাদের জানা উচিত । বাক্যের সাধারণত দুইটি অংশ একটি হল Subject আর অন্যটি হল Predicate. আজকের প্রবন্ধ থেকে আমরা বাক্য সম্পর্কে খুটি নাটি জানব ।

Assertive sentence (বর্ণনামূলক বাক্য)

Let’s discuss Assertive sentence first. The sentence in which any statement is given is called Assertive sentence. That is, all spoken conversation belongs to Assertive sentence.

Assertive sentences, also called declarative sentences, are sentences that express a general idea or thought, a habitual action, a scientific fact, or a universal truth.

Most sentences in the English language are assertive or declarative sentences. A sentence that declares or asserts a statement, feeling, opinion, event, history or something else is called a declarative sentence. A difficult sentence ends with a period (.).

যে বাক্য বা Sentence দ্বারা কোন বর্ণনা বা বিবৃতি বুঝায় তাকেই Assertive sentence বলে ।

Assertive sentence আবার দুই প্রকার:

• Affirmative sentence (হ্যাঁ বোধক)।
• Negative sentence (না বোধক)।

• The tigers don’t come out in the morning.

Interrogative sentence (প্রশ্নবোধক বাক্য)

প্রশ্ন জিজ্ঞাসা করাকে জিজ্ঞাসামূলক বাক্য বলে। Interrogative sentence-এর ক্ষেত্রে auxiliary verb-এর পরে subject আসে।

Asking a question is called an interrogative sentence. In case of interrogative sentence the subject comes after the auxiliary verb.

Verb ‘To be’ এবং ‘To have’ ব্যতীত Present Indefinite Tense এ Do / Does এবং Past Indifinite Tense এ Did এই Auxiliary verb গুলির সাহায্যে Interrogative Sentence গঠিত হয়।

আবার নিজের মতে কারও সমর্থন চাইলে Sentence এর সাথে একটি প্রশ্নও জুড়ে দেওয়া হয়। একে Tag question বলে। সাধারণ Positive statement এর সাথে Negative tag এবং Negetive statement এর সাথে positve tag থাকে।

A question is also added with the sentence if you want someone’s support in your own opinion. It is called tag question. Normal Positive statement has negative tag and negative statement has positive tag.

Imperative sentence (অনুজ্ঞা বা আদেশসূচক বাক্য)

যে বাক্য দ্বারা কোন আদেশ, নিষেধ, অনুরোধ, উপদেশ ইত্যাদি দেওয়া হয় তাকে Imperative Sentence বলে।

The sentence by which any command, prohibition, request, advice etc. is given is called Imperative Sentence.

Imperative sentence এ Second person উহ্য থাকে।

Optative sentence(ইচ্ছাসূচক বাক্য)

যে sentence দ্বারা ইচ্ছা, প্রার্থনা বুঝায় তাকে Optative Sentence বলে।

ইচ্ছা, আবেগ, অনুভূতি প্রকাশ করতে হলে Optative sentence ব্যবহৃত হয়। সাধারণত Optative sentence, May দিয়ে আরম্ভ করতে হয়। অনেক সময় May উহ্য থাকে।
